Van Gough Museum

To gather more inspiration for my work I visited the Van Gough museum this was to see more famous paintings, to gather new ideas and more influences to my work.

Vincent Van Gough

I wanted Van Gough museum to learn more about famous artists and to learn the expressions, emotions and feelings that went into Van Gough work. In his career he painted a lot of protirituers of him self when I was walking around the gallery I wondered why he made such work. I found that he done this tbecause it was quicker method to paint himself in his work as you don't need to rely on anyone else also he done this to experiment with tones and colours. I was also interested in how he also painted a lot of flowers and landscapes, his more famous painting was the "Sunflowers" this painting became famous because he painted a numerous amount of these paintings to look at the colours, also of people like it because of the bright yellows and how he paints the background to make the flowers stand out more.

The way Van Gough paints is in a thickly built up with coarse and blocky brushwork that layered in hundreds of individually visible strokes to produce such artwork. Van Gough never painted in more of a realistic field of painting it was always in this way. he used oil paints in his work this was how he built up the brushstrokes of paint.

When browsing round the gallery I have been more interested in how all of his paintings as a little bit of background and meaning and this is what I would like to learn and put into my work this is because I want to show expression and how my mind works.
