Bob and Roberta Smith

I am inspired by Bobs work to create images that have strong text upon them. In my work I also want to Show that you can get messages to people just in a text way, you don’t need to add imagery with the text and this is what his art is about. He just shows strong text to forward messages he discusses like art in schools he protests matters in art gallery's so people would come and see artists feelings and emotions towards a subject.
In his work he uses different types of text and different colours I my work this is what I would want to look at how would you get the quote to the audience but make it strong and eye catching. I want to make the words look powerful to try and show how animal rights is a powerful topic. In the galleries that bob displays his work he sometimes hangs the quote on the wall and then have a lot of protesting boards stuck in a plinth to show that this could have been a political matter that is being dealt with and is in an art gallery to show the history of the protest.
He shows in his work that protest boards are made quick and simple as he collects the ply wood from a skip then he adds the battens on that lets the protesters hold the boards he then paints the lettering onto the boards in a fast method this shows that protest boards aren’t made with care. I want to show a quick way to add text to my art work I could paint the text on or use spray paint I want to make my writing like his to stand out. I also want to try different styles of text and see what fits and looks better on the board as all on bobs boards they have different styles of writing this shows experimentation.
