Jenny Saville

I wanted to look at Saville's work because it has an effect that I want to include into my work this is when she paints peoples faces and bodies squashed up. the way she does this is by lying them on top glass or throw a window and getting them to squash there faces so closes to the glass so you can see the mark that the face makes the tension marks the redness in her face.  I wanted to study this artist because of this technique because I think it will work well with my art as when animals are so squashed up against the bars of the tight pens that they have to sit in till they get slaughtered this is how the face pressed against the wire they will get marks on the skin I could add this to my work as well to show how horrid animals in cages and how animals rights have to change.

When thinking of artists to look into I needed someone to look at who displays there works in a way that I want to, these paintings that Saville creates are different as in portraits you only see a copy of a face but she has changed hers so she displays people differently. The way animals faces are squashed up in cages is what I wanted to add into my work and also look at facial expressions, I want to show how animals feel distressed in tiny little cages.
